Monday 12/26 Update
What a weekend! First of all, thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers during this holiday time and thank you to all who brought food for us. Anyone that knows much of momma and her cooking will know that this was by far the best holiday meal we have had. It certainly beats the time that momma had the nursing home where Grandma Ruth lived serve us four extra trays for Thanksgiving one year or the time that we had Pizza Hut on Christmas. So, thanks to you all.
Well, as far as momma goes, it wasn't as strong of a weekend as we had all hoped for. She was pretty disoriented and had some tummy troubles for the majority of the weekend. A lot of the time she stayed in bed during the day but was restless and agitated for the most of the nights. We think all of this has to do with the heavy meds she is taking for pain. While we did meet the oncologist last week, we weren't really thrilled with him at the time but after receiving calls since the visit from his office, and momma's sincere dislike of him, we are looking for another doctor. The holidays have made it difficult to get much done in the way of doctor visits and appointments so it has been a little trying to get in to someone. Amazingly, when you call and say, "my mother has a brain tumor" no one has said "what time would you like to come in tomorrow?". We have really not lost any precious time at this point because the radiation cannot begin for two to four weeks after surgery anyway, and the surgery was two weeks ago Friday. But, we do need to get it going early this week. Fingers crossed.
Momma has also allowed a few visitors, which is great news. She has seen a couple of friends and her brother and nephew. She does tire easy and is uncomfortable fairly quickly since she doesn't understand what is everyone is saying, but I think seeing people that care has to be good for her. Thanks again for everything and especially your prayers.
