mommasexperience

My dear sweet momma has developed a brain tumor--specifically a glioblastoma multiforme. This is an update of all of the details of her treatments and her recovery. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and concern. My new favorite quote: "Humans are like tea bags, you have to put them in hot water before you know how strong they are."

Wednesday 12/28 Update

They started the first dose of chemo last night. Momma will be taking Temodar in a pill form while they are doing the radiation. Of course it is too early to tell anything regarding any side effects she might have from the medicine but last night went well. She is eating--very picky of course, but eating none the less. They are at Baptist in Little Rock and will continue to stay in LR after she is discharged from the hospital but continuing treatment. The plan is for them to stay at the Extended Stay America that is near the hospital. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers and best wishes.

    Tara,
I know it will be harder for you to see your parents with them in Little Rock, but it sounds like it was the right plan for them to go back there at this point. If we can run down there some weekend and do anything for them, please don't hesitate to let us know. My cell and home numbers are both programmed into your mom's cell phone.

Thank you for keeping us up to date on here. None of you are ever far from our thoughts. Stay strong.

    tara,
i can't remember what kind of pill form chemo that bill took when he was sick but i do remember setting the alarm clock around 11 or 11:30 at night to give it to him. his oncologist in little rock suggested giving it to him then to reduce nausea and it did work for him. lynne

Dear Tara, Keep your courage up girl. You are doing such a wonderful job keeping us all posted. I've been where you are with Allyson and Naomi. The hours in the waiting rooms, the prayers and love of family and friends is such a comfort. I am glad there are so many there for you. I hate living so far away. But let me tell you,, Naomi is a 9 year survior of brain cancer and they have never been able to successfully remove the entire tumor, but with the radiation, chemo, and other RX drugs she lives a pretty full life. She can no longer drive, but she still works a full time job and raising a 10 and 13 year old. Her husband is a rock and she adores him as your momma adores your dad. Such love is a miraculous gift from God that imparts strength, the strength Teri needs to get through this. Tell your dad and Neall we are praying for them as well and they are not forgotten. Your mom and dads wedding anniversary is coming up in a couple of months, do you think we can plan something to surprise them with? Cards and letters of favorite moments perhaps with a picture or two? All sent and wrapped in a big anniversary box that your mom and dad could look through together or it's a week before valentines day, maybe we could all do that on heart cut outs and heart attack the living room!! It would be great to lift their spirits. Just a thought. I love ya'll so much and don't you forget it!!!!
I copied an pasted the one picture of Teri & Richard for our prayer chain here. My one friend in Texas has 3 little boys 6, 7, & 8 that she home schools and every morning before classes start they have prayer time and they asked to see a picture of who they are praying for. Just wanted to let you know. Love and hugs always, Until later your cousin, Cathy
